Dr Marten’s shoes made the difficult transition from an everyday essential for the working classes to iconic British design. Dr Martens now symbolise individuality and originality and are a symbol of youth rebellion.
Dr Martens were firstly created by two German Doctors who then offered their advanced technology and the patents for the famous Air Cushioned sole to a British shoe manufacturer. The British company added the iconic yellow welting and created the famous 1460 boot which was introduced to the UK market on the 1st April 1960 and popular with manual workers, the brand evolved and became popular in the rocker and punk scene. There are now over 70,000 possible varieties of their footwear available in a fantastic range of colours and finishes.
